Lemon Dal





Ingredients:

Toor Dal – ½ cup
Water – 1 cup
Lemon Juice – 2 or 3 Tbsp
(You can adjust lemon juice according to your taste)
Salt – to taste

For Tampering:

Urad dal – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Red chilli whole – 2
Red chilli powder – to taste
Curry leaves – few
Crushed garlic – 2 pods
Oil – 1 tbsp

Procedure:

Wash and cook toor dal for 3 whistles in a pressure cooker or till completely done set side.



Take a wide pan, add oil when it is hot enough add red chilli whole, urad dal and fry for 30 sec., then add mustard seeds when they crackle add curry leaves and crushed garlic, turmeric and cook till the raw smell goes away.



Now add cooked toor dal, and cook for 2 min, then add red chilli powder, adjust salt and switch off the stove.



Let it cool for 5 min, then add lemon juice, mix well.



Serve with hot white rice. 

Note:
You can even try this dal with Indian Grapefruit (Dabbakaya) or even with Tender Green Orange ( Narinja).

can i add ginger along with garlic...

Teja, we dont add ginger to the dal and Garlic is also optional ingredient.....

i know that its silly to ask such things but still......

because i have ginger garlic paste i aske dyou sooo......i dont know what to do with ginger garlic paste ........

hi Valli, dal looks yummy. I do the same with moong dal, but I omit garlic. I add slit 2-3 green chillies along with red chillies, curry leaves, jeera, and mustard for seasoning..I should try this...Thank you
